Barbara Knudsen
I lived for 30 years in the state of Washington where I was a member of the Peace Arch Equestrian Drill Team. I started judging drill competitions 25 years ago and have judged competitions all over United States and the Province of Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada as well. At this time I hold judges’ cards for six current drill associations. Right now, I am a member of the Texas Ladies Aside, a sidesaddle drill team from College Station, Texas where we all ride Peruvian Paso gaited horses and am a member of the Riders of Faith Drill team in Eagan, Texas and ride a good old Quarter Horse. I live in Alvarado, Texas. I am a founding member of the United States Equestrian Drill Association and was its first Secretary. I held the first USEDA judges clinic in Canton, Texas that certified almost 60 individuals from all over the United States. For the last six years I have been Judges Liaison and Tabulator for the OKEDA’s Red Dirt Ride Competition. I am a founding member of the Freedom Equestrian Drill Team Association whose goal is to work with drill teams at all levels to be the best they can be.
My passion is drill and I am delighted to be a part of any and all aspects of it.

Freedom Riders Peewee Team
In 2011, some of the younger sisters and daughters of riders on the Freedom Riders Drill Team were bored sitting in the bleachers watching. They wanted to play in the dirt too! Link Polson became their coach and taught them the basics of drill. These brave young girls wanted to prove that it does not matter how small or how young someone is but that they too can accomplish big feats. The youngest rider on this team is 5 years old! If you ever get a chance to watch these kids ride, you better be careful, because they may just fly to your heart! If you have a youngster that’s interested in joining, call Pee Wee Coach Link Polson (405)206-4146. Check them out further on their website below. |
